The RescuDerm™ Platform
NociPharm’s RescuDerm line of initial products represents a new, third generation analgesic that targets nociceptor pathways. Nociceptors are highly specialized nerve fibers and receptors that translate noxious insults into pain perception and inflammation. They carry electrical switches, ion pumps, that generate currents. It is these ion pumps that are the target of NociPharm’s H+ delivery system.
Nociceptors direct the development of pain perception, but in addition, they trigger and amplify (massively so in burns) secondary responses to the noxious insults they sense. This amplification includes inflammation, enhanced blood flow with delivery of heat and direct cell death signals that locally enhance the number of dying cells by a factor of 100-1000 fold.
