H. Michael Dosch, M.D., Ph.D.
Chairman and President

Dr. Dosch is the President of NociPharm Inc. Dr. Dosch also holds the position of Senior Scientist, The Hospital For Sick Children Research Institute; Professor of Pediatrics and Professor of Immunology, University of Toronto. He is the recipient of Canadian National and of International Awards, has published over 400 scientific papers and reports in leading Journals, lectures worldwide, and is a leader in global efforts to prevent diabetes. Heading a large research laboratory devoted to molecular, cellular and applied immunology, Dr. Dosch has received multimillion dollar, peer reviewed funding by National Canadian, U.S. and International agencies, and has a long history of successful collaborations with multinational biomedical corporations. While thematically removed from his immunology career, NociPharm represents part of his life objective, to translate original, basic observation to practical and effective tools that improve life in tangible ways.

Kurt Ostermann
Director

Mr. Ostermann made the principal observations that lead to development of NociPharm’s technology platform. Mr. Ostermann has had a diverse and successful business for 30 years, one of his companies, Ostermann Restaurants Limited, built up and divested several high-end restaurants. The high frequency of accidental burn wounds in restaurant kitchens formed the impetus for the team to develop a new, science-based approach to treat such incidents and reduce the associated downtime.

Gordon Valko
Chief Executive Officer

Mr. Valko will operate the company in its expansion stage and he has been in the financing industry for over 25 years. He has an extensive background in turnaround management, restructurings, acquisitions and startups. Gordon has served in many senior CEO and President rolls as well as senior financial positions. His experience covers the retail, high tech and many industry areas. He has founded and sold companies and continues to serve as a Director to a number of private corporations.

Lynda Covello, B.A (hons), LL.B, LL.M
Director

Mrs. Covello is Senior Partner of Margolis Partnership, a business law firm specializing in the areas of International Biotechnology contracting, intellectual property and business transactions with a broad North American and overseas focus. Mrs. Covello chairs the Industry/University Transactions Committee and is also a member of the Licensing Executives Society. She has been instrumental in the structuring and international alignment of NociPharm.

George Jackowski, Ph.D.
Director

Dr. Jackowski is currently the Chairman, Chief Executive Officer and Chief Scientific Officer of SYN-X Pharma Inc. He was the co-founder of Spectral Diagnostics Inc. and the inventor of the Spectral Cardiac Panel, a rapid format cardiac diagnostic test. He holds over 100 patents and is a Senior member of the Canadian Biotechnology Industry. He also holds academic positions at the University of Toronto, Departments of Laboratory Medicine and Pathobiology and Surgery, and at the Toronto Hospital Centre for Cardiovascular Research. He was the recipient of the 1996 MEDEC Award for Medical Achievement for his invention of the Cardiac STATusTM CK-MB/Myoglobin Panel Test, which aids in the early diagnosis and rule out of myocardial infarction in patients with chest pain. Dr. Jackowski has a Ph.D. in Clinical Biochemistry from the University of Toronto and is trained as a Cardiovascular Biochemist. He is the author/co-author of nearly 100 scientific publications and presentations. Dr. Jackowski is inventor of many patents filed in the USA and under International Patent Treaties, and has excelled in the fostering of new Canadian biotechnology companies with innovative incubation programs that reached national attention.
